Romesh Ranganathan Thinks The Terrorists Have Already Won | Universal Comedy

He might just be the busiest comic in the UK at the moment, and in all fairness it doesn't take Romesh long to get angry, so probably best for him to avoid airports during an ebola pandemic.

  • Wanna know who the leading recruiter of Terrorists on this planet...the FBI. That's not even some play on words or implication or crow barring of the terrorist definition, they literally recruit more terrorists than anyone else. Majority via "sting" or "Patsy" operations. Our leaders really love these illusory enemies (where they cannot manufacture them) I wonder how long it will be before this and "Voldermort" legislation are merged? probably a matter of a couple of years...maybe months

  • 5:00 he's pretty much on the money about inconveniencing people. On the news about 6 months ago some people protested in Australia about some government environmental policies, and the protesters did it by blocking major roads. TV crews were interviewing people in the traffic jam, and some of the people were practically in tears like "I just want to get to work, I haven't done anything wrong, why are they trying to ruin my life?" I think they had been stuck for about an hour at that point - no death, no destruction of property, just interrupting everyone's routine and costing them some money.

    • @IKtheVS, which part of the sentence precisely is racist? Which word or words?

      John DoeJohn Doe2 maanden geleden
    • @IKtheVS, are you really that desperate to be offended and feel victimised? There is no racism in the sentence. It is not about white people or any other specific category of people. All it means is that until a problem (a disease or something else) happens close to you or to people are similar to you (physically or otherwise), it is human nature to not worry that it might also happen to you.

      John DoeJohn Doe2 maanden geleden
    • @IKtheVS, it is you who had a very simple choice to make. Either acknowledge that you simply misunderstood the generic you as meaning "white people" or… make baseless assumption upon baseless assumption - about his parents being superstitious, about them having "an unhealthy fear of exotic diseases". Superstition might be a common problem in India, but his parents are from Sri Lanka and they have been living in the UK for over four decades. He was not referring to the skin colour of the audience members, he was not even referring to the audience members at all. If you do not know what the "generic you" means, look it up. And he was also not saying that he was right to worry about Ebola and that people who did not worry were wrong. What he said was that people not worrying about it is understandable. You just sound like you have been desperately looking for an opportunity to feel victimised.

      John DoeJohn Doe2 maanden geleden
    • @IKtheVS, it looks like you completely misunderstood that sentence. The "you" at the end was a generic you. So, what the sentence means is that until something happens to people who look like you, no matter how it is you look, you are unlikely to worry about that thing. In fact, Ebola did not affect people who look like him either and so it was easy for him not to worry about it either. And COVID-19 is topical proof of how true that sentence is. How many people outside of East Asia worried about it in December 2019 and January 2020? Not many people at all. Not even the brown people in the Indian subcontinent. Would you say they were enjoying "brown privilege"? It just looks like, sadly for you, your bigotry is interfering with your English comprehension.

      UkSapyyUkSapyyMaand geleden
    • It is my misfortune that I must add to my prolixity and this conversation by pointing out that you ascribe this incapability to what you call a victim mentality. I have no doubt that this does exist among some; it does not necessarily apply every time a person of color(you see where I'm from then.) opens their mouth to make points disagreeable to you. THAT is what I took from your comment earlier. Again, good day.

      Sacha PerrySacha Perry2 maanden geleden
    • @IKtheVS The point I am trying to make is NOT whether or not HE uses his immigrant background to make a buck, nor to hold a brief for what Churchill called" a seditious Middle Temple barrister dressed as a fakir". Since I am a citizen of another country who has never even set foot in England, l am neither interested nor competent to pronounce upon the questions you raise concerning the contemporary fractures in English( or more largely British) society. I wish you over there luck with all that , and hope that matters will be managed in a way conducive to well being of the populace. My issue is that you take the satirical mouthings of one man to smear entire populations. No doubt your love for your native tradition and desire to protect it does you credit, and is worthy of applause. But to say that ALL Indians,Sri Lankans, browns and blacks (as I gather your reference to cultures to mean) are incapable of progress is not worthy of that civilized discourse you no doubt espouse. If l have mistaken your meaning, you may disregard my comment, and good day to you. But I don't think that l have. In which case equally good day.

      Sacha PerrySacha Perry2 maanden geleden
    • @IKtheVS He represents a whole culture. He's an ENGLISHMAN. He speaks no Tamil. He speaks no Sinhalese, on his own admission. Thus , your comment can be interpreted in a way I am sure you wouldn't like: that the ENGLISH are incapable of progress! If you're going to make reductive comments asserting your own superiority, at least don't pull the plug on yourself. Cheers.

    Sdot ManSdot Man3 maanden geleden
    • @UCLsYVrwzstK0SfqsEpdrBQw But ironic you're complaining about racist stereotypes whilst perpetuating a racist stereotype that all indians have superstitions that white people are to blame for everything. Are you worried about drug-resistant malaria? NO? Because cases of malaria abroad don't personally affect you, it doesn't happen in the UK, so no cultural experiences of the damage malaria can do ergo there's no reason to care about news of drug-resistant malaria as much as say someone who lives or has family in Ghana. Does that mean you don't care about innocent people dying from malaria? No, it means because of where you live and coincidently your skin tone you have no reason to worry about something that is happening in another continent that's never going to affect you. HOWEVER, if we DID have malaria in the UK and widespread malarial infections were a problem years before news broke about drug-resistant malaria you'd be afraid. If you dont understand such a simple concept by now you're either an idiot or you're so blinded by prejudice you actually cant see the irony.

    • @IKtheVS It's nothing to do with how many people WERE KILLED it's the potential number of deaths AT THE TIME. You're speaking from a hindsight perspective but nobody at the time knew how severe the outbreak was going to be, exactly like how people assumed that covid would fizzle out like ebola and yet it didn't. White people didn't have a first-hand experience of how a virus can go from a small outbreak to a nationwide epidemic until covid. AND you're clearly ignoring how afraid the people in the affected countries were, if you knew people who lived through that outbreak like I do you'd have a more informed opinion on the topic. But why would you know people in African villages if you're white? That's the point, white people weren't scared of ebola because it wasn't happening to people they knew or even looked like, it was happening far away. Nobody knew if ebola would continue to spread and the people in those countries were very afraid. Your logic is idiotic, if the ebola outbreak had happened in central London and thousands were infected and dying and you lived in the UK you'd be an idiot to not be afraid. People from across developing countries have lived through epidemics, they know how much it can devastate a country so when ebola broke out in Africa anyone with knowledge of how quickly outbreaks can spread was afraid of what could potentially happen. BUT if you're from a country that's never experienced an epidemic you're much less likely to understand how quickly a small outbreak can become a full-blown epidemic. It's really not that hard, you're looking at things as if people knew the outbreak would be contained at the time but they didn't, christ.

      Tammy JanjanTammy Janjan2 maanden geleden
    • You obviously didn’t understand what he was saying. People in western countries did not have experience with epidemics until Covid. This meant that they didn’t view Ebola as being as serious as people from countries that have frequent experiences with communicable viruses like H1N1 in India or SARS and MERS elsewhere. This is exactly why countries like South Korea handled Covid more effectively than in the UK and US. People from the west who are typically white didn’t understand or care about the severity ofall these epidemics in developing countries until they were affected themselves. Same reason why you get white people refusing to vaccinate their children against diseases that are basically nonexistent in the west but people in developing countries are regularly dying from. They don’t see it as being a threat until it affects them personally. Don’t get why you want to single out India, it’s not a superstition or some rhetoric he got from his parents, it’s just how it is. If you can’t see that you’re more blinded by race than you claim he is😂
